Police Service: Smooth Implementation of New Technology.
Toronto Police Service is one of the largest municipal police
forces in North America, serving the City of Toronto, the
largest city in Canada with a population of more than 2.5 million
residents. In standardizing on the AIX platform, TPS contracted MSS for
a fully automated migration of their CASC system from LINC and COBOL to Java
(J2EE), XML and DB2. Using the well-proven migrate!LINC product and the newer
migrate!COBOL (Java) technology, the
migration was accomplished in 3 months and, after extensive testing,
went live at the beginning of May 2008.
The
cut-over was summed up as a ‘smooth implementation’ with the online
users (up to 6000 with 80 concurrent users on average) barely affected.
This is an achievement considering the changes involved: Linc migrated
to Java, Cobol migrated to Java, WFL to shell script, scheduling system
to crontab, DMSII database to DB2, COMS replaced by Websphere and the
underlying MCP platform replaced with a standard AIX (IBM p Series)
system.

JKB
Bank: A move into the Modern Era.
Jordan Kuwait
Bank, based in Amman, Jordan with branches in Cyprus and Palestine
engaged MSS to move its core banking package from Linc to Oracle
software using migrate!LINC.
JKB also had a significant body of Cobol code supporting the ATM
network. MSS rewrote this in Java as a precursor project to creating
the Cobol to Java path of migrate!COBOL
automatic translation software. JKB chose SUN to supply hardware and
Oracle to supply the software stack and are extremely happy with their
new system.

Life: Project Sunrise brings a new dawn.
Scottish Life moved to a modern open platform that is performing
extremely well by calling in the help of MSS with our migrate!LINC and migrate!COBOL automatic
translation software. Ten million lines of application code were converted
during the 18 month long project and 750 million data records were
transferred during the migration weekend using MSS data migration
tools. Scottish Life chose MSS and HP as partners to achieve their
goal.

Insurance and Pensions: Extraordinary Project.
Migration of legacy COBOL systems from Unisys to open
platform using migrate!COBOL.
The systems were 17 years old, took hundreds of man years to build and
included a million lines of COBOL code with various infrastructure
tools. Due to strict time constraints this migration was to be
completed within 8 months - a task most people believed impossible.
CLAL chose MSS and HP Israel as partners to achieve this goal and the
result was an unqualified success!
