Corporate Social Responsibility

How is MSS involved?

MSS International's mission is to help our customers move towards truly modern and efficient information technology environments. Whilst the commercial value of this is unquestionable, we are also observant of our responsibility to engage with the world outside of industry.

MSS engages with organizations who, like us, consider that the future is something that we are all responsible for.

We are excited to work with The African Leadership Academy (ALA) whose mission is to transform the African Continent by building a new generation of African leaders from the ground up.

The idea

ALA seeks to enable lasting peace and prosperity in Africa by developing and connecting the continent’s future leaders. Africa’s greatest need is ethical and entrepreneurial leadership. Too often, we invest in addressing the symptoms of bad leadership in Africa: we give blankets, food, and medicine to those impacted by war, poverty and famine. But these efforts will never stop unless we develop leaders who prevent wars from occurring in the first place, entrepreneurs who create jobs, and scientists who sustainably increase food production and access to healthcare.

Our Recent work with ALA Alumni

Our VP of Global Alliances Sam Shnaps is an active member of the ALA European Chapter. The chapter aims to provide support and assistance to the message of ALA and the graduates currently studying in Europe.

This year 13 ALA graduates came from Denmark, Greece, Germany, France, UK and Spain to Brussels for the second European ALA Alumni Reunion. The event took place from Friday evening to Sunday evening and included a walking tour of Brussels, a visit to the Atomium/Mini Europe exhibition, several EL Sessions, a trip to the Offices of Real Impact Analytics which included a wonderful presentation by their CEO, a trip to the movies to see “Selma” and a dinner attended by 30 people on the Saturday evening sponsored by Maurice and Sam Shnaps from MSS International. The purpose of the event was to reconnect the students with each other and the ALA mission.

ALA at the European Forum Alpbach

ALA graduate Lebo Shilakoe recently attended the European Forum Alpbach's 70th anniversary (http://www.alpbach.org/en/). EFA is an annual forum established after WWII which brings together scholars, politicians, policymakers and entrepreneurs from all over Europe and further afield to discuss the world's most pressing issues. The theme this year was on the subject of Inequality. Lebo had a fantastic experience and even got the opportunity to meet Austrian President Heinz Fischer pictured here with Sam Shnaps (MSS VP Global Alliances) and Martin Frick (Member of the Advisory Board, Alpbach Policy Symposium).
